“I can’t believe I paid $20 to walk down a dark hallway and be slapped in the face with a flour tortilla”. – Amy Focaccia, Self-Proclaim Gluten Intollerant
Are you afraid of eating wheat AND ready for the spookiest night of your life? Get in the spirit of the season by coming to the local bakery, Buns Up, for something that will truly haunt your digestive system!
The Gluten After Dark Halloween Experience has been described by people with Celiac Disease as “a true house of horrors.” Jack, who was diagnosed with Celiac’s at 20 years old, said, “To visit a place filled with so much danger lurking around every corner made me feel so alive. All my senses were tingling, and not just because of all the flour dust still swirling about in the air.” Lucy, another patron, said, “Getting tested for Celiac is actually quite expensive so I’m trying this instead and just seeing what happens!”
However, Gluten After Dark has also received criticism from visitors who are not gluten intolerant, describing the experience as “basically just walking through a bakery.” This was confirmed by the owners of Buns Up– “The scary aspect of this experience really depends on you being afraid of bread. If a loaf of sourdough doesn’t send a shiver down your spine, and an immune response down to your small intestine, please come visit us during our normal business hours.”
The attraction is running through the end of the month, so if your idea of Halloween fun is to walk through a gauntlet of baguettes, or be slapped in the face with a flour tortilla, there’s still time!
